The Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation is collaborating for the second consecutive year with the ESMAR Festival (Spain–Morocco), which takes place opens on 16 April at the headquarters of Arab House in Madrid.
Specifically, the Foundation is responsible for bringing the prestigious Moroccan screenwriter and director Maryam Touzani, A key figure in contemporary cinema, whose international career has helped project a sensitive and engaged perspective on Moroccan society.
Awarded at festivals as prestigious as Cannes (FIPRESCI Prize for The Blue Caftan) and Venice (Audience Award in the Spotlight section), the filmmaker will also receive an award for her career at this festival, which is organised by the Centro Malakat Information and Communication Association and will celebrate its second edition in Madrid in April 2026.
An initiative aiming to highlight the value of the Moroccan community in Spain and to strengthen cultural, social and creative ties between both countries. In this new edition, ESMAR consolidates its vocation as a space for encounter, recognition, and intercultural dialogue, bringing together professionals from the artistic, institutional, and social spheres around a diverse programme that includes tributes, meetings, and cultural events.
