Filarmonía Youth Orchestra of Sevilla will present a diverse repertoire at the Three Cultures Foundation

19/12/2014 From 00:00

Filarmonía Youth Orchestra of Sevilla (JOFS) was established in Seville in 2012 at the initiative of Pedro Romero Vargas, president of the cultural association that backs its activities and thanks to the support of students, colleagues and friends.

This young orchestra has a special character since it is composed of young musicians from the province and some parents who share their love for music. The JOFS has benefited from the invaluable collaboration of professional musicians such as Miguel Ángel González Ruano, professor of flute at the Conservatory of Music ‘Cristóbal de Morales’ of Sevilla and Austrian maestro Karin-Regina Florey, violin teacher at the Voralberger Landeskonservatorium of Austria.

Filarmonía has performed in numerous venues such as Teatro Lope de Vega, Teatro Municipal of Casariche or the Church of San Vicente de Paul, and belongs to the Federation of Youth Permanent Orchestras of Andalusia.

JOFS Principal Conductor

José Gregorio Hernández Lovera (violinist, singer and composer).

Graduated as a violin teacher from Juan José Landaeta Conservatory (1993 Caracas, Venezuela), he completed his academic training with studies in composition, piano, music history, chamber music and singing. From an early age and throughout his professional career he has worked with several symphony orchestras, including the Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela; the Symphonic Orchestra of Caracas; Bética Orchestra of Seville; Philharmonic Orchestra of Andalusia and Cordoba Orchestra. He has performed at major European venues such as the Golden Hall of the Vienna Opera House or the National House of Prague. Among his premiered works are “Divertimento for Double Bass and Percussion” (2005) and “Orchestral Fantasies #1” (2014), the latter released in October 2014 with the Filarmonía Youth Orchestra of Sevilla he currently conducts.
