Mrabet and Bowles, a memory of Tangiers

19/11/2019 From 19:00

The Fundación Tres Culturas (Three Cultures Foundation), with the collaboration of Cabaret Voltaire publishing house, organises this conversation with a living memory of international Tangiers, the Moroccan writer and painter of Rifain origins Mohamed Mrabet. Coinciding with the publication of The lemon, his second novel, which had not been printed in Spanish until now (and which like his other twelve works arises from a collaboration between Mrabet and the American Paul Bowles), the author will speak to intercultural coordinator and writer Farid Othman-Bentria Ramos.

Self-educated and illiterate Mrabet coincided in Tangiers with writers such as William Burroughs, Truman Capote, Tennessee Williams and Allen Ginsberg. The city was a magnet for intellectuals and artists, including those of the Beat Generation. Yet it was the Bowles’ who established a fruitful relationship through the stories that Mrabet dictated to Paul.

Activity included in the celebration of the tenth anniversary of Tres con libros (Three with books).
