Poetry event for the presentation of the book ‘The colour of time’ by Clarisse Nicoïdski
The Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation and the Centre Sefarad –Israel in collaboration with Sexto Piso Publishing organize a poetry event for the presentation of the book The colour of time by Clarisse Nicoïdski. This bilingual edition brings together the complete collection of her poems for the first time. Critics consider Nicoïdski the most important Sephardic poet of the 20th century. Her work had a strong influence on some Spanish American poets, especially Juan Gelman and the Spaniard José Ángel Valente.
Esther Bendahan, writer of Sephardic descent and Head of Cultural Activities at Centre Sefarad-Israel and the poet Carmen Camacho will take part in the presentation. Ernesto Kavi, translator of the book, will join them via livestreaming. He will talk about the creation process, Judeo-Spanish language and why poetry “is a means to restore time”.
After the presentation of the book, there will be a poetry recital by Carmen Camacho (in Spanish) and Esther Bendahan (in Judeo-Spanish). Mar Gabarre, music writer, art students and singer of the group Musgö will be playing the harp.
The first six pages of the book are available in this link courtesy of Sexto Piso.
