The music of the Moors of the kingdom of Granada and an Andalusí music concert, in Al-Andalus Cathedra

27/06/2019 From 20:30

The June session of the Al-Andalus Cathedra conference cycle adopts a format more in keeping with the summer season. On this occasion we will dedicate the afternoon to the music created by the Moors of the kingdom of Granada, with a presentation by Reynaldo Fernández Manzano, former director of the Alhambra and Generalife Trust. In addition to this lecture, the attendees can enjoy a concert by the duo formed by Emilio Villalba and Sara Marina, researchers and performers of Andalusí music.

The music of the Moors is the final stage of the music of Al-Andalus on the Iberian Peninsula. Heir to the music of the Nazarí kingdom of Granada, with its famous zambras and lailas, its persistence is undeniable and is apparent in many forms of popular music of Andalusia and northern Africa.
