From 00:00

The Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation will continue its book club sessions with the latest work by Ismaël Diadié Haïdara, ‘Zimma’.

‘Zimma’, edited by Vaso Roto, is a philosophical tale where Diadié pays tribute to the oral traditions of nomad people in North Africa and the coast of Niger. The main characters in the tales are fantasy creatures, animals or people. They become a tool to transfer life experiences in the way of traditional African masters.

Ismaël Diadié Haïdara

He was born in Timbuktu (15th of March 1957) into the Kati family, whose founder, Mahmud Kati (Arkoya, 1593), was the son of Ali b. Ziyad al-Quti of Toledo and princess Kadiya Sila, niece of Sunni King, Ali el Grande (1592) and big sister of Songhay Emperor Askia Muhammad Sila (1528).
