Companhia das Cestas, a brand that has revived the art of handmade ’empreita’ woven baskets, transforming them into modern and practical fashion accessories, was born in the summer of 2013. The baskets are produced by craftsmen from the Algarve and then personalised and decorated by the hands of a mother (Beatriz) and daughter (Sofia), obtaining an innovative and “fresher” touch. With sales mainly through its online presence, the firm currently exports throughout Europe and to countries such as Thailand, the United States, Denmark and China, with exports accounting for 60% of its production.
