The Jardim de Infancia Nossa Senhora da Piedade was founded in 1858 as a care centre for children with diverse needs to guarantee their education, food, protection and support, as well as access to training that would enable them to be self-sufficient in the future.
In 1982, the Institution adopted the name of Jardim Infantil Nossa Senhora da Piedade and became a public institution for the care of children from 4 months to 6 years of age.
This centre’s educational project is based on the need to educate in values, with diversity as a common element. It is an exciting project that contemplates emotional intelligence and incorporates learning that is rich in content, including respect, listening, attention and, in short, the value that each person contributes to society.
The teaching team places special importance on words, on the messages we send through our language. We can ask ourselves: WHAT ARE WORDS FOR? What words? What are words good for?
The words we say, write, tell, paint and dance are important, these words reflect what we want and what we don’t want, these WORDS help us to build and create together.
With words, we can change the world!
