Monte Selvagem (Wild Mountain) is a park located in Lavre, Alentejo, with 20 hectares, a nature conservation centre that combines an animal reserve, an adventure park and an educational project. In addition to all the native species that live in its natural environment, the park is home to about 70 wild and domesticated species, making a total of 300 animals.
Built and managed according to the principles of environmental respect and sustainability, it is an example of the reduction of impact and consumption of raw materials, educating in the conservation of nature. It is currently one of the national spaces with biodiversity protection and accommodation, as well as of direct contact with the natural environment in Portugal, and has won several awards, including:
- 2010 Mais Tourism Award, awarded by the Mais Alentejo magazine
- 2012 Best Tourist Animation Company in Alentejo, by the Tourism Entity of Alentejo, ERT
- 2016, 2017 and 2018 placed among the top 5 Pumpkin Awards, where Portuguese families rate the services among the top 5 in Portugal in the categories of Weekend Activities and Educational Service.
- 2018 and 2019 Portugal Five Stars Award, in the “Theme Parks” category.
