The Three Cultures Foundation of the Mediterranean, sponsored by the Ministry in charge of Moroccan Communities Abroad and Migration Affairs, within the framework of ‘Alqantara: bridges for dialogue and coexistence’ program, which aims to address the great debates of present-day Mediterranean area, organizes Tres Festival, voices of the Mediterranean, in which front-line authors from the entire Mediterranean basin will gather during April 28, 29 and 30 in the city of Granada.
The fascinating feature of the Mediterranean as a cultural crossroads -stemming from geographic coordinates that make it a place of meeting and exchange between East and West, North and South- has since ancient times contributed to the creation by means of literature of a genuine, own imaginary.
It is precisely now, in a period of inequality, confrontation and marginalization, when it is necessary to move for a better coexistence in this rich and diverse region. And it should be culture in its different forms and manifestations, such as literature, the fundamental factor for that necessary progress.
Tres Festival, voices of the Mediterranean aims to be a milestone on that path that allows man to be freer. Authors such as Nawal El-Saadawi, Buket Uzuner, Almudena Grandes or Abraham B. Yehoshua will meet in Granada to contribute from the literary experience to that way of understanding and freedom.
