Commemoration of the International Day of Remembrance of the Holocaust and the Prevention of Crimes against Humanity

Every January since 2004 the Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation organizes a series of activities to mark the Day of Remembrance of the Holocaust and Prevention of Crimes against Humanity, a day marked to commemorate the Holocaust coinciding with the liberation of Auschwitz, which took place on January 27th, 1945.

This year’s events have been organized in collaboration with Centro Sefarad-Israel, the Deportation Library, the Seminar for the Study of the Holocaust and Anti-Semitism of the Pablo Olavide University, and the Progressive Jewish Community of Andalusia Beit Rambam.

The program will have a dual aspect combining the traditional commemoration and an educational event aimed at educating future generations to avoid similar situations.

Tuesday, January 27th, 12.00, at the headquarters of the Three Cultures Foundation.

Screening of the film Free men followed by a talk about the Holocaust.

The events will begin with the screening of a film followed by a talk by José Cruz, Codirector of the Seminar for the Study of the Holocaust and Anti-Semitism of the Pablo Olavide University, specialist in contemporary Judaism and Holocaust and author and coordinator of the book Holocausto y Crímenes contra la Humanidad: claves y recorridos del antisemitismo.

The film Free men, directed by Ismail Ferroukhi and based on actual events, shows the efforts of the Muslim community of North African origin (embodied in the figure of the imam of the Grand Mosque of Paris, Si Kaddour Benghabrit) to protect the Jews and help the Resistance.

This program is especially aimed at students of the 2nd cycle of ESO and Bachillerato. Schools interested in this event can register through the following email: doloresj@tresculturas.org.
