Cycle ‘Dialoguing with the glance: sample of cinema of Portuguese and Andalusian directors’

This meeting with cinema is proposed as a sample of the Portuguese women directors work. It is preceded by short films made by women directors members of the Andalusian Women’s Audiovisual Media Association (AMMA).

Cinema is a difficult field for women to management access. Award-winning filmmakers such as Isabel Coixet have commented that not only have been judged by their work, but also by their physique, accent, way of dressing and other issues for which no director is questioned.

For this reason, the Three Cultures Foundation collaborates againt with the Andalusian Women’s Audiovisual Media Association (AMMA) to disseminate and value their works in the film industry: direction, production, script, costumes, etc.

These films will share the stage with others made in Portugal, where an important number of films and documentaries filmed by women are being produced. Among the best known in the current scene are Margarida Cardoso, Catarina Mourao and Claudia Verajao. They have a wide and award-winning trajectory and we will have occasion to know their works in this cycle.
