The Three Cultures Foundation, within the framework of its European project INTREPIDA plus, is organising a new event to highlight the work of women, in this case in the world of music. On this occasion we present the Portuguese harpist Helena Madeira, who will offer a delightful musical repertoire with influences from the three monotheistic cultures and religions.<\/p>\n

This artist, based in Silves, in the south of Portugal, has an extensive training in singing and harp. After attending the National Conservatory of Music in Lisbon, she also studied anthropology and Italian.<\/p>\n

Between 2006 and 2015 she was the vocalist of the world music group MU<\/em>with whom he recorded the album Casanostra <\/em>in 2009 and Folhas que Ardem<\/em> in 2012 and with which he performed live on some of the most prestigious world music stages such as the Plasencia Folk Festival, the Sines World Music Festival, the Sufi Sutra Festival in India and the Penang World Music Festival in Malaysia, among others.<\/p>\n

In 2014 he began his solo career, with his first solo album:\u00a0Da voz do Embondeiro, <\/em>in which he delves into the roots of the music of the medieval period in the Iberian Peninsula.<\/p>\n

Helena Madeira has continued her work of research and dissemination of traditional music until the perfection of her second album,\u00a0Cen\u00e1rio Divergente,<\/em> presented in 2020. His repertoire usually includes music of Sephardic origin.<\/p>\n
