Echoes of Mellah"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In September, as part of the Ecos de Sefarad programme of activities, we dedicated the Tuesday Film sessions to the Sephardim, descendants of the Jews expelled from Spain in 1492.<\/p>\n<p>This cycle opens our eyes to the unique history of the Sephardic Jews, to their traditions and above all to their determination to preserve a culture that has its roots in Sepharad, the medieval Spain of our ancestors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tuesday 17 September, 20.30 h.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Tinghir-Jesuralem. The echoes of Mellah. <\/strong><\/em>Kamal Hachkar. Morocco, 2014, 86 min.<\/p>\n<p>Through various testimonies, this documentary bears witness to the coexistence between Muslims and Berber Jews in Tinghir, in southern Morocco, until the latter left the town in the 1960s to settle in Israel.
