{"id":74323,"date":"2020-12-02T14:30:53","date_gmt":"2020-12-02T12:30:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tresculturas.org\/?post_type=tribe_events&#038;p=74323"},"modified":"2020-12-02T14:30:53","modified_gmt":"2020-12-02T12:30:53","slug":"januka-en-tres-culturas-acto-de-encendido-de-la-janukia-y-concierto-del-grupo-memorias-de-sefarad","status":"publish","type":"tribe_events","link":"http:\/\/tresculturas.org\/en\/actividad\/januka-en-tres-culturas-acto-de-encendido-de-la-janukia-y-concierto-del-grupo-memorias-de-sefarad\/","title":{"rendered":"Hanukkah at Tres Culturas: Lighting of the Hanukkah and concert by the group Memories of Sepharad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation is collaborating with Makom Sefarad for the celebration of Hanukkah or<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0The Feast of Luminaries, a date in the Jewish calendar celebrating freedom and peace, which, unlike other celebrations of a strictly religious nature, has its origins in documented historical events.<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The holiday is spread over eight days, which in 2020 will be from 10 December, as the first day, to 18 December.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To celebrate, the candles of an eight-branched candelabra are lit, at the rate of one candle each day.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The spirit of this festival is therefore to extol freedom as a supreme good, a right for all human beings, whatever their culture or tradition. And e<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">t is tradition that these fundamental values be shared with the whole of society, one of the principles on which the philosophy of the Fundaci\u00f3n de las Tres Culturas del Mediterr\u00e1neo and Makom Sefarad is based, a cultural project dedicated to facilitating spaces for dialogue and coexistence through activities and programmes linked to Jewish-Spanish history and heritage.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Programme<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday, 14 December, 17.00 h.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lighting of the Hanukkah and concert by the group Memories of Sepharad<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Representatives of Tres Culturas and Makom Sefarad will speak at the event.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the end of the words, the lighting of the eight-branched candelabra, the chanukiah, will take place.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The event will close with a concert by the group <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=bOR-_YUZ-wg&amp;feature=youtu.be\">Memories of Sepharad<\/a>, <\/b><b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">composed by Daniel Mart\u00ednez Mart\u00edn (guitar, bouzouki, arrangements and composition), Alba Bermejo (vocals) and Juan Cabrera (viola).\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The repertoire of this performance is made up of themes composed by Daniel Mart\u00ednez Mart\u00edn himself, as well as other works compiled from the Sephardic tradition, making a musical journey full of harmonies that range from classical style, to flamenco, Balkan folklore, or Egyptian and Andalusian music.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Invitations will be available from Friday 4 December at 10.00 a.m. onwards at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.es\/e\/entradas-encendido-de-la-janukia-y-concierto-de-memorias-de-sefarad-131534724903\">THIS LINK<\/a>.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday, 17 December, 17.00 h.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lighting of the Hanukkah and concert by \u00d3scar Acedo in collaboration with Beit Ramban.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On this occasion, the Foundation is collaborating with Beit Rambam in an event in which there will be a speech by the members of this organisation, the purpose of which is to celebrate Hanukkah with the lighting of the eighth and last candle of the candelabrum, which is carried out publicly in many countries and cities around the world.<\/p>\n<p>A beautiful tradition that invites people from different groups and cultures to light the candles of freedom.<\/p>\n<p>We will end with a musical performance by \u00d3scar Acedo.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Invitations will be available from Friday 4 December at 10.00 a.m. onwards at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.es\/e\/entradas-januca-encendido-de-la-janukia-y-actuacion-musical-de-oscar-acedo-131535940539\">THIS LINK<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>IMPORTANT INFORMATION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Due to capacity restrictions, we are obliged to limit the number of seats, so it is essential to reserve an invitation in advance.<\/p>\n<p>Given the existing limitations, we kindly ask our audience to show solidarity and not to reserve more invitations than they will use.<\/p>\n<p><strong>No entry will be allowed without a reservation.
