To speak about the Mediterranean from different perspectives. That is the tool to counteract the mixed messages that inundate our daily lives through the media. The same event can be reported from a variety of viewpoints, validating differences but also stereotypes.

In a multicultural space such as the Mediterranean region, we need to search for an alternative media language capable of overcoming the prevailing negative image about otherness, an image that hinders the co-existence of peoples from both sides of the Mediterranean rim.

 

Zouhir Louassini

Zouhir Louassini is a Moroccan journalist working at the RAI (Italian public television) and as a columnist for several Arab and Italian newspapers. He holds a PhD in Literature by the University of Granada and teaches Arabic at Roma-3 University. He has published a number of articles and specialized papers in Arabic, Italian and Spanish newspapers and magazines. He is the author of The identity of the Moroccan theater and Kill the Arab. The image of the Arab in Western media.
