The Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation and the Embassy of Bulgaria present this exhibition about the impact of international developments on Bulgaria in the early 1940s and the response of the Bulgarian society.
The exhibition collects photographs, facsimiles and texts to explain the social, political and historical context. It was presented for the first time in November 2009 to diplomats, representatives of the Jewish community in Bulgaria, scientists and researchers specialized in this period.
Since then, the exhibition has been shown in several European cities as well as outside Europe: Warsaw, Prague, Copenhagen, Vilnius, Washington, New York, Toronto, Geneva, Dublin and Tel Aviv, among many others.
In Spain it was possible to visit this exhibition at the Sefarad-Israel Center in Madrid and the Fundació Palma Espaid’Art-Casal Solleric in Palma de Mallorca, in the context of the 15th European Day of Jewish Culture.
This exhibition has been organised in collaboration with the State Institut of Culture of the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Center for Jewish Studies of the University of Sofia, St. Clement of Ohridski.
