As we enter the third decade of the 21st century, a normalisation is coming about of matters which had been eradicated from political discourse in democratic countries. Hate – against Jews, Muslims, immigrants…, but also against the poor, in the new blight that is aporophobia – has once again made its way into the system.

July 2019 marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of Primo Levi, and now we want to arm ourselves with his moral legacy to encourage a more than necessary reflexive debate on the point we are at and the aforementioned normalisation.

If not now, when? Is a title that encourages debate and reflection on this situation and on our responsibility as a society (as politicians, as members of the media and as voters) to avoid a repetition of the history of hate. The debate will be led by Mercedes Monmany, writer and literary critic, and by José Cruz Díaz, law graduate and doctor specialising in anti-Semitism.

This activity is carried out in collaboration with the Centro Sefarad-Israel Centre and the Seminary of Holocaust-Shoá and Anti-Semitism Studies of the Pablo Olavide University.
