The Three Cultures Foundation and Casa Árabe with the collaboration of the research group Sísifo form the Archeology Department of the University of Cordoba organize this cycle of conferences, framed in the 1300 Anniversary of Cordoba as Capital of Al Andalus and in which a selection of the most important cities in the History of Islam will be analyzed.
This cycle of conferences will gather a strategic selection of the most important cities in the History of Islam and which, at one point, became capitals of important medieval kingdoms or Empires. All of them will be explained by worldwide renowned experts who will discuss not only about the History of the capital tackled (their highest peaks and urban expansions) but also about the conservation of ancient remains of the cities (abandonment, pillaging, wars, real-estate pressures, etc)
In this opportunity we will discuss about the city of Granada next June 28th 19:30h at the Three Cultures Foundation with the prestigious Phd. Antonio Orihuela Uzal.

Phd. Antonio Orihuela Uzal
Phd Orihuela Uzal has a degree in architecture by the University of Barcelona (1979), a Phd in architecture by the University of Seville (1994) and was honoured with a Phd with distinction during the year 1994-1995. Since 2013, he is director of Escuela de Estudios Árabes de Granada (CSIC) and since 2007 holds the CSIC bronze medal after 25 years of service of this institution. Besides, he belongs to the research group: Laboratory of archaeology and architecture of the city.
As far as his academic itinerary is concerned he has been professor in different masters and courses of experts in the University of Granada, visiting professor of the School of Architecture of Oxford Brookes University in UK and visiting professor of the school of architecture Isthmus in Panamá. Regarding publications, he has published 8 books and dozens of articles in scientific magazines, collectives’ volumes and research works.
