The Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation, in collaboration with the Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of Iran in Spain, will analyze the role of Iran in the region as an emerging power in the face of the revitalization of the Gulf Cooperation Council. We will count with the participation of Alberto Priego, Professor at Comillas University and Rafael Fernández, journalist of Canal Sur Television.

During the months of November and December, the Three Cultures Foundation, in collaboration with the Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of Iran in Spain, will develop a programme of activities under the title ‘Iran at Three Cultures’, to which this roundtable belongs.

Iran stands as the most influential power in the region and it is proving it in conflicts like those in Iraq or Syria. Confronted by this new reality, the Gulf States have revitalized an alliance, the Gulf Cooperation Council, which was born precisely to stop the expansionism of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the 80s. Today we witness a regional competition among the different regional actors where it seems that Iran is emerging as the strongest power in the years to come.
