This international congress is the follow up of the one celebrated last November in Iran, specifically at the headquarters of the Allameh Tabatabaí University under the title: The Heritage of Al-Andalus, Persia-Iberia (www.alandalus2015.ir). The academic coordination will relapse in the director of the Chair Al-Andalus, PHD. Emilio González Ferrín and Professor Raffaele Mauriello. Besides, the congress will be chaired by the managing director of the Three Cultures Foundation Jose Manuel Cervera Gragera and, PHD Najmeh Shobeyri, director of the Department of Spanish language of Allameh Tabatabaí University.
This initiative encourages interdisciplinary research on Al-Andalus as well as intercultural approaches aimed at finding out how, when and where the encounter between the Iberian peninsula and Persia has provided more fertile ground. Prominent scholars in different fields of the humanities will contribute to this effort by presenting articles and participating in debates, dialogue among representatives of diverse cultures being a necessary and unavoidable tool for achieving mutual understanding and cooperation.
With the celebration of this international congress, whose program can be downloaded here, in which the Embassy of Spain to Iran, the Embassy of Iran to Spain and the University Complutense of Madrid also collaborate, the Three Cultures Foundation keeps on developing actions and giving content to the MOU signed with the Tabatabaí University, in the first round of the congress in Teheran last year.
