The Fundación Tres Culturas del Mediterráneo, continues with its reading club Three with books and does so with the work Azazel by Youssef Ziedan. In doing so, Tres Culturas supports Turner's new collection, Turner Kitab, dedicated to current Arab fiction.
With this novel, winner of the International Prize for Arabic Fiction 2009 and the third work published by the collection, we witness the controversial reconstruction of one of the defining moments of Western civilisation: the emergence of the Church as an institution of power.
Hipa, the main character, goes on a journey through North Africa and the Middle East in the 5th century, at the end of Antiquity, which will not only be a journey of self-knowledge, but will also allow her to witness the corruption and cruelty of the time.
Youssef Ziedan (Egypt, 1958)
He is a renowned novelist with more than fifty published works. Ziedan is also a university professor of Islamic philosophy and Sufism, which he combines with his position as director of the Manuscript Centre and Museum of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. In 2009 he was awarded the International Prize for Arabic Fiction (Booker Prize of the Arab World) for his novel Azazel which is considered one of his most important works.

The writer and director of the Manuscripts Centre and Museum of the Library of Alexandria Youssef Ziedan presents his novel Azazel (Turner). Winner of the International Prize for Arabic Fiction 2009 and the third work published by the Turner Kitab collection.
Youssef Ziedan will be accompanied by the editor César Martínez-Useros and the translator Ignacio Ferrando, who will provide simultaneous translation from Arabic into Spanish. Free admission until full capacity is reached.
