Coinciding with the celebration of International Book Day on Friday 23 April, the Fundación Tres Culturas is dedicating this month's film series to the influence and collaboration that has always existed between the two genres.

Cinema has been influenced by literature since its beginnings, offering great masterpieces based on titles such as Anna Karenina, Pride and Prejudice or Dracula. Indispensable works of literature that have been taken to the screen by great directors, without forgetting novels such as The Beehive, The Leopard, Les Misérables and Gomorrahwhich have been even more widely recognised by the public after their adaptation to the big screen.

This film series offers current films dealing with the passion for writing and the lives and works of well-known writers from Mediterranean countries.

Tonio, the son of the bear king, is captured by a group of hunters in the Sicilian mountains. When the harsh winter threatens his people with starvation, King Leoncé decides to invade the kingdom where the men live. With the help of his army and a powerful magician, the king manages to find his son Tonio. However, they soon discover that bears are not meant to live in the land of men...
