The Fondation des Trois Cultures de la Méditerranée pays tribute to Vincenzo Consolo with the programming of the reading club Tres con libros and the presentation of his work 'Conversation à Séville'. Edited by the professor and translator Miguel Ángel Cuevas, this work is a compilation of several interviews and interventions in various Seville forums during 2004.
Consolo, who belongs to the tradition of the great Sicilian authors who are always attached to their island, to which Leonardo Sciascia, a friend and constant reference in his conversations, also belonged, is considered to be one of the most subtle writers in Italian literature.
Vincenzo Consolo (1933-2012)
Born in Sant'Agata di Militello (Sicily), facing the Aeolian Islands, he is therefore an excellent connoisseur of a Sicily which, as we can read in one of his texts, is full of blood and jasmine. His works include 'Le sourire du marin inconnu' (1976), 'Le Retable' (1987), 'Le palmier de Palerme' (1998), 'Les Pierres de Pantalica' (1988) and 'Lunaria' (1985). He was awarded the Strega Prize in 1992 for 'D'une maison l'autre, la nuit durant' (1992).
