The photographic and audiovisual exhibition Faces of the new MoroccoThe exhibition, organised by the Fundación Tres Culturas del Mediterráneo and the Ministry in Charge of Moroccans Living Abroad, and produced by the Ruido Photo Association, was inaugurated at the headquarters of the Fundación Tres Culturas last January; and after passing through the Euro-Arab Foundation in Granada, it now arrives at the Instituto Cervantes in Tangiers, where it will remain from 18 June to 18 July 2013.
In conjunction with the exhibition Seeds of the new Moroccopresented at the Cervantes Institute in Tétouan last May, is one of the main lines of the MENARA project's awareness-raising programme. In addition to strengthening relations of cultural cooperation between Andalusia and the Kingdom of Morocco, MENARA thus adds to the historical collaboration between the two territories in the framework of the Neighbourhood Policy promoted for the European Union towards the Mediterranean basin.
Faces of the new Morocco shows the social context of Moroccan-Andalusian immigration, which is in keeping with the reality of a contemporary and dynamic Morocco. The exhibition deals with the stories of three different people who, after migrating to Andalusia, returned to Morocco to continue their professional lives there. The brothers Mohamed and Karim Bourass, who run a family business exporting fish to Spain. Tarik Gofti, one of the heads of Kind Hearts, a civil organisation dedicated to the protection of the natural area of Mediouna and Sloika. And Ana Habiba Dhabi, national coordinator of the NGO Save the Children, offer the portrait of stories that represent effort, personal and professional capacity and a lifestyle not dissimilar to that of many Andalusian citizens.
