The library

The specialised library Fátima Mernissi is a unique space in Andalusia due to the characteristics of its bibliographic and audiovisual collections. It was created in 2007 with the aim of being an instrument to support the objectives of the Three Cultures Foundation, as well as a useful tool for those who wish to learn about the diversity of the Mediterranean.
In 2016, the Three Cultures Foundation renamed its specialised library the Fatima Mernissi Library in posthumous recognition of the figure and legacy of this renowned Moroccan sociologist, writer and feminist.

More than 12,000 references

Since its beginnings, it has worked to reinvent the concept of a specialised library and currently has more than twelve thousand bibliographic collections, as well as a complete media library that provides its users with more than a thousand references to enjoy Mediterranean music and film production.
Its specialised staff provides services to a wide range of users, from researchers who require specific attention to individuals who want to learn more about the Mediterranean. In short, it is a multifunctional space offering all kinds of facilities, as well as friendly and personalised attention, to anyone who wishes to learn more about Mediterranean literature, music and cinema.
At the same time, the Fundación Tres Culturas, through its Library, is firmly committed to the promotion of books and reading through an extensive cultural programme, which includes book presentations, the Tres con libros book club in its different variants and the literary festival Tres Festival: voces del Mediterráneo, among many other activities.

Reading action

Reading and learning. Talking and listening. Discovering, knowing and thinking.
The Fatima Mernissi Library wants Seville and the peoples of the Mediterranean to join in reading, and that is why it we promote a series of actions for guarantee that all people, no matter where they come from, have the opportunity to the right to be readers. We will defend this right not only by supporting the promotion of reading in libraries, but also with specific projects to promote reading in schools, clubs, in the Foundation itself and in less conventional environments.
We encourage you to be a reader and to be a reader!
Authors writing in different languages make up a panorama that is as attractive as it is revealing, because through them the reader has access to the reality of the country, to the way of thinking and feeling of its inhabitants, far from the clichés and postcard images. However, this literature is largely unknown in Spain and the majority of publishers still do not support these works. To alleviate this situation, the Fundación Tres Culturas works to promote and disseminate Mediterranean authors who show the richness of other regions of the planet.
Reading Club: Three with books
The Tres con libros reading club began in 2009 with the aim of promoting reading, disseminating Mediterranean authors and developing initiatives to enrich the cultural heritage through diversity.

Tres con libros is a meeting of readers who love literature and experience the pleasure of books in a different way. In addition to the usual meetings to discuss the selected work, in this club they have the opportunity to share their impressions with the authors, illustrators or even the protagonists of the selected books.
Given the great acceptance obtained by our users of the first reading club that was created back in 2009, new ones have been created, differentiating them into themes and/or ages, so today we have four different reading clubs, which are:
Three with books from home (created in the wake of confinement and the coronavirus pandemic)
Three with books for young people
Three with books in the CIS (Centro de Inserción Social, penitentiary centre).
Three with mothers' books.
Music playlists
Each of the titles we host in the Tres con Libros club has a "soundtrack" created specifically in collaboration with the authors and collaborators to accompany the reading. These are Spotify playlists that musically illustrate the books and bring the narrative universe of the writers closer to them. An original idea that arose in 2014 while reading Yo fui Johnny Thunders (RBA) by Carlos Zanón, full of musical references.
Literary conversations
Throughout these years, we have been fortunate to have had at the Fundación Tres Culturas first-rate writers.
