S. Rajan and Rama Vaidyanathan, accompanied by musicians Lalgudi Sriganesh and Vidya Srinivasan, in a concert of Carnatic flute and classical dance Bharata Natyam on 18 October at 8.30 pm.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span>\u00a0<\/span><b><i>G. S. Rajan<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Renowned flautist and composer from India, he belongs to the first generation of<span>\u00a0 <\/span>artists who trained at Kalakshetra, the famous art school in Madras. He studied singing and flute with renowned musicians such as M.D. Ramanathan and H. Ramachandra Shastri. His long professional career (he has been creating music for over three decades) has established G.S. Rajan as one of the most prolific and prolific musicians in the world.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>multifaceted musicians from <st1:personname productid=\"la India. Ha\" w_st=\"on\">India. Ha<\/st1:personname> composed pieces of music in very different styles of music from <st1:personname productid=\"la India\" w_st=\"on\">India<\/st1:personname>His works include: Carnatic music, choral music, votive singing, film soundtracks, documentary music, contemporary dance and theatre. One of his musical creations for the orchestra \"Oasis\" was awarded the national Akashwani prize in 1996. He works regularly for All India Radio and the Indian TV channel Doordashan. He also writes music reviews for newspapers such as The Statesman and The Hindu. In 2004 he received the National Award from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. <st1:personname productid=\"la India. A\" w_st=\"on\">India. A<\/st1:personname> In addition, he has held various positions in important institutions of the <st1:personname productid=\"la India\" w_st=\"on\">India<\/st1:personname> such as Ravi Shankar Centre, Swaralaya, Art India Foundation and <st1:personname productid=\"la Academia Nacional\" w_st=\"on\">the National Academy<\/st1:personname> of Music, Dance and Theatre Sangeet Natak Akademi. G.S. Rajan has worked in many countries as a composer and flautist. Since May 2004 he has been teaching at the cultural organisation Exodus in Marseille.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><b><i><span>Rama Vaidyanathan<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>One of the most outstanding dancers and choreographers of Bharata Natyam from <st1:personname productid=\"la India. Disc?pula\" w_st=\"on\">India. Disciple<\/st1:personname> Rama has performed at the most important national dance festivals in the world, and has been the guest of acclaimed masters such as Yamini Krishnamurty and Saroja Vaidyanathan. <st1:personname productid=\"la India. Tambi?n\" w_st=\"on\">India. Also<\/st1:personname> has performed in numerous countries on artistic tours organised by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). Rama Vaidyanathan has received the Sanskrti and Indira Gandhi awards for her work in the arts. She is currently the director of Ganesa Natyalaya, an art centre in New Delhi, where she teaches Bharata Natyam.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><b><i><span>Lalgudi R. Sriganesh<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>He was introduced to mridangam drumming at the age of eight in the southern Tamil Nadu state of <st1:personname productid=\"la India\" w_st=\"on\">India<\/st1:personname> studying with master Sri V. Nataraja Iyer. Later he continued his mridangam apprenticeship with Sri A. Prem Kumar at All India Radio, New Delhi. In 1985 he started working as a musician accompanying leading dancers and as a conductor of Carnatic music orchestra. He has participated in numerous international festivals in countries like Russia, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, Srilanka, South Korea, Greece etc. and in concerts for radio and television in <st1:personname productid=\"la India. En\" w_st=\"on\">India. At<\/st1:personname> as a musical director, he has conducted several percussion ensembles under the patronage of <st1:personname productid=\"la Academia Nacional\" w_st=\"on\">the National Academy<\/st1:personname> of Performing Arts and Music Sangeet Natak Akademi. Since 2003 Lalgudi has been a founding member of the Dhvani Music Ensemble. In the same year he was awarded the Mridanga Kalamani Prize in New Delhi.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><b><i><span>Vidya Srinivasan<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>Born into a musical family, she was fortunate enough to begin studying singing at an early age with the great masters Padmavathy Natesan and O.V Subramaniam. Her training in Carnatic music was later forged in <st1:personname productid=\"la Universidad\" w_st=\"on\">the University<\/st1:personname> from Delhi where she obtained her master's degree and doctorate in music. Besides giving recitals as a soloist in Carnatic singing, she has composed numerous pieces of music for classical dance from <st1:personname productid=\"la India. Tambi?n\" w_st=\"on\">India. Also<\/st1:personname> is a musical accompanist to leading dancers such as Leela Samson and Swapana Sundari. Vidya has performed at numerous festivals all over the world. <st1:personname productid=\"la India\" w_st=\"on\">India<\/st1:personname> and has presented singing performances in Australia, Latin America, Asia and Europe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><font size=\"2\"><\/font><\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><b><i><span>Tickets: 5,00 \u20ac.
