The Fundaci\u00f3n Tres Culturas, together with the prestigious International Council for Middle East Studies (ICMES) and the collaboration of the University of Seville, is organising an international meeting of experts on Islam on 29 September at the foundation's headquarters. The aim of this conference is to analyse the relations between Islam and modernity, delving into various issues of great relevance and interest in the Arab-Islamic world.<\/p>\n
The meeting will be divided into two sessions, each of which will feature a keynote presentation by an expert, to which another of the intellectuals participating in the conference will respond and comment. Both sessions will be followed by discussion sessions, in case the other academics taking part wish to complement or comment on the presentations.<\/p>\n
Among the topics to be addressed, we can highlight the following:<\/p>\n

- What makes a Muslim an intellectual?<\/p>\n
-What have been and are the common practices in the Muslim intelligentsia?<\/p>\n
In the second session:<\/p>\n
-The role of Islam today.<\/p>\n
