As every last Thursday of the month, this 30th of June at 19:30 we have an appointment with 'C\u00e1tedra Al-\u00c1ndalus'. On this occasion the conference will be given by Virgilio Mart\u00ednez Enamorado, PhD in Medieval History from the University of Malaga, who will talk about the 'Berbers in Al-Andalus'.<\/p>\n
In the historiography of Al-Andalus, the use of a term such as \"Al-Andalus\" has been expressly avoided.\u00a0migration<\/strong>\u00a0to explain the genesis of a society that, in time, would end up constituting an atypical cultural system in Europe: Arab in expression, Islamic in civilisation. Nevertheless, we understand that it is precisely this concept,\u00a0migration<\/strong>The year 711 and its historical consequences in the Iberian Peninsula, as well as in the formation of Al-Andalus as a political and social structure; a process which, in our opinion, took place in its constitutive period between the 8th century and the end of the 10th century.
\nThroughout that formative time, that constitutive period of Al-Andalus, indigenous North African tribal groups - those known as the\u00a0imaziguen<\/em>-The Arab population, as well as, secondarily, Arab groups, carried out a great process of demographic transfer, taking as their ideological support a Muslim religion that was still in the process of formation. In this session of the Al-Andalus Chair we will try to show some of the evidence of this initial migratory process based on archaeology and chronicles.<\/p>\n
