The Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation is organising a series of commemorative events on the occasion of Holocaust Remembrance Day and for the Prevention of Crimes against Humanity, coinciding with the liberation of the Auschwitz camp on 27 January 1945.<\/p>\n
This year's programme has been organised in collaboration with the Progressive Jewish Community of Andalusia Beit Rambam, the Seminar of Studies of the Holocaust -Shoah- and Antisemitism of the Pablo de Olavide University (UPO), and the project\u00a0A light among the thorns<\/em>from the IES Ibn Jald\u00fan Secondary School in Dos Hermanas.<\/p>\n The programme will be twofold, as the commemorative events will be complemented by an educational aspect, with the aim of educating future generations to avoid similar situations.<\/p>\n - Wednesday, 27 January,<\/strong><\/p>\n At 8.30 p.m., at the headquarters of the Fundaci\u00f3n Tres Culturas.<\/strong><\/p>\n Candle lighting ceremony<\/strong><\/p>\n On this occasion a candle will be lit in memory of the six extermination camps (Auschwitz-Birkenau, Belzec, Chelmno, Majdanek, Sobibor, Treblinka) and the camps of Ravensbr\u00fcck (the women's hell) and Mauthausen, where the Nazis interned and murdered thousands of Spaniards.<\/p>\n - Thursday, 28 January<\/strong><\/p>\n At 11 a.m., at the headquarters of the Fundaci\u00f3n Tres Culturas.<\/strong><\/p>\n Talk on the Holocaust and film screening\u00a0Free men<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n The day's events will begin with a talk by Jos\u00e9 Cruz, co-director of the Seminar for Holocaust -Shoah- and Anti-Semitism Studies at the UPO, a specialist in the history of contemporary Judaism and the Holocaust, author and coordinator of the book\u00a0Holocaust and Crimes against Humanity: Keys to and Trajectories of Anti-Semitism<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n This will be followed by a screening of the film\u00a0Free men<\/em><\/strong>by Isma\u00efl Ferroukhi, a film based on real events that depicts the efforts of the Muslim community of North African origin (embodied in the figure of the imam of the Paris mosque, Si Kaddour Benghabrit) to protect Jews and help the Resistance.<\/p>\n Both the film and the talk are especially aimed at students in the 2nd cycle of ESO and Bachillerato.<\/p>\n Free admission until full capacity is reached.<\/strong><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" La Fundaci\u00f3n Tres Culturas del Mediterr\u00e1neo organiza una serie de actos conmemorativos con motivo del D\u00eda de la Memoria del Holocausto y para la Prevenci\u00f3n de los Cr\u00edmenes contra la […]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":21792,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_et_pb_use_builder":"","_et_pb_old_content":"","_et_gb_content_width":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[33],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-20641","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-otros"],"yoast_head":"\n
