The Andalusian Youth Institute and the Three Cultures Foundation, in collaboration with the Ministry in charge of Moroccans Resident Abroad, are launching in Algeciras from 26 to 28 October the First Edition of the Cross-Border School of Interculturality for Young People Ibn Batuta. <\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n The initiative of the IAJ and the Three Cultures Foundation arises from the conviction of the need to continue deepening, through education in values, the construction and structuring of an intercultural society by means of the elimination of stereotypes and mutual knowledge. This is a continuation of the strategic line of work set out by the Government of the Junta de Andaluc\u00eda, which establishes youth as a strategic axis for work on immigration policies, and also follows the recommendations of the Report of the High Level Group for the Alliance of Civilisations, which considered work on Youth as one of its four lines of action. This initiative adds to and continues the training proposal on interculturality and youth developed by the IAJ in the framework of the Interreg III A Spain-Morocco Community Initiative, which led to the development of the action programme <\/span>\"Building spaces for encounter: a proposal for intercultural education with young people\".<\/b><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n In this edition, 112 young people from the eight Andalusian provinces will take part in a three-day educational, plural, participatory and sensory programme in which, through theatre, music, oral storytelling and cooperative work, the aim is to arouse curiosity about the value of diversity and recognition of its importance in the construction of citizenship. In this way, the aim is to cement, in young people, values such as respect, cooperation and solidarity, which are vital for the construction of a new Mediterranean society on both sides of the Strait of Gibraltar.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n The meeting starts with a dynamisation under the title \"History of two taifas or the tribulations of Sultan Al-Rashid\" in which you will meet the famous Sultan Al-Rashid, the monarch of the 1,001 nights, who, sleepless as usual, attends the tales of his private storyteller, Scheherazade. The latter, inspired by the place, tells him the story of two Taifa kingdoms that existed in Andalusia many centuries ago, this tale being a parable about the difficulties of communication between collectives... However, the Sultan does not understand anything, and asks his storyteller to explain the meaning of this story. The storyteller, confused, is unable to explain anything, which makes the Sultan furious and gives him until Sunday morning to find the moral of the Tale of Two Taifas or he will never be able to wear a turban again. Lost, Scheherazade asks for help from the audience... From there, the different dynamics will be developed within the four workshops (theatre, stories from both shores, world music and image) focused on deepening the given story through various playful and creative techniques aimed at promoting communication, interculturality and the exchange of experiences.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n
