{"id":108554,"date":"2022-07-29T12:40:39","date_gmt":"2022-07-29T10:40:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tresculturas.org\/?post_type=tribe_events&#038;p=108554"},"modified":"2022-07-29T12:40:39","modified_gmt":"2022-07-29T10:40:39","slug":"alfonso-x-la-ceramica-y-los-oficios-del-barro-en-la-sevilla-bajomedieval","status":"publish","type":"tribe_events","link":"https:\/\/tresculturas.org\/en\/actividad\/alfonso-x-la-ceramica-y-los-oficios-del-barro-en-la-sevilla-bajomedieval\/","title":{"rendered":"Alfonso X: 'Pottery and the earthenware trades in late medieval Seville'."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Fundaci\u00f3n Tres Culturas del Mediterr\u00e1neo and the Fundaci\u00f3n Machado will develop a programme of activities centred on the figure of Alfonso X 'The Wise' to coincide with the 8th centenary of his birth.<\/p>\n<p>This is a joint initiative of both institutions to examine this legacy from different perspectives (from historical to artistic, from heritage to legal and even the customs of his time that have survived to the present day), taking into account the enormous importance of the monarch.<\/p>\n<p>Issues such as these will be analysed in much greater detail in a series of lectures under the scientific coordination of <strong>Antonio Zoido<\/strong>President of the Machado Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>The series will hold a monthly session until June and will resume after the summer break with three more conferences, from September to November, which will deal with such interesting subjects as the birth of Hispanic lyric poetry, the European roots and branches of Alfonso X and the genesis of popular arts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fourth conference:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Thursday 15 September, 19.00h. '<strong>Pottery and the earthenware trades in late medieval Seville'.<\/strong>by\u00a0<strong>Pilar Lafuente Ib\u00e1\u00f1ez, <\/strong>archaeologist, specialist in ceramics and material culture.<\/p>\n<p>The pottery trades were of great importance in late medieval Seville. The Christian conquest in 1248 marked a break with the important pottery activity of the Almohad period, but production soon recovered and all kinds of articles came out of the Sevillian potteries and workshops: household objects, crockery of different qualities, commercial containers and jars for transport and storage, tiles, construction materials... all necessary and highly demanded products in an expanding city that saw how its urban fabric was being transformed at the same time as it projected itself abroad through important trade routes.<\/p>\n<p>The pottery and ceramics tradition of Seville, which has survived to the present day, deserves a look back to the past, to centuries in which the clay trades represented an important economic and commercial activity for the city.<\/p>\n<p>Free admission with prior registration in this \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.es\/e\/392981788107\"><strong>LINK<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>About the speaker <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Pilar Lafuente Ib\u00e1\u00f1ez\u00a0<\/strong>is an archaeologist, specialising in ceramics and material culture. She has a degree in Geography and History. Her research is based on the study of materials in different archaeological interventions and projects, such as restoration projects and archaeological excavations of interest in Seville and the province.<\/p>\n<p>He has also participated as a lecturer in different courses and master's degrees, congresses, seminars and conferences, as well as in the research group HUM 712: Los almohades, su patrimonio hist\u00f3rico en Andaluc\u00eda Occidental (The Almohads, their historical heritage in Western Andalusia), at the University of Seville.<\/p>\n<p>His most recent collective publications include 'La Sevilla \"abb\u0101d\u00ed\" en B. Sarr (ed.) Taw\u0101'if.
