Application period open until 21 June.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Plus d'informations et inscriptions :<a href=\"http:\/\/www.unia.es\/ensanche.tetuan\"> www.unia.es\/ensanche.tetuan<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Trois Cultures Foundation collaborates with the International University of Andalusia, the Andalusian Institute of Historical Heritage and the University of S\u00e9ville, in the organisation of the course \"L'Ensanche espagnole de Tetu\u00e1n : patrimoine commun, patrimoine de l'humanit\u00e9\", which will be taught by prestigious national and international specialists and directed by Mar\u00eda Dolores L\u00f3pez Enamorado, professor in the field of Arab and Islamic studies at the University of S\u00e9ville and delegate for relations with Africa and Arab countries.<\/p>\n<p>This course has as its first objective the exchange of experiences between professionals from Andalusia, Spain and Morocco to contribute, with their reflections and proposals, to the work in progress for the Spanish expansion of Tetouan to be included in the UNESCO World Heritage Declaration.<\/p>\n<p>A further, but no less important, objective is to open up new lines of research and cooperation between Andalusian universities and institutions and those of northern Morocco.<\/p>\n<p>The Ensanche de Tetouan, capital of the Spanish protectorate in Morocco (1912-1956), is the best example of Spanish town planning in the northern part of the neighbouring country. As early as 1914, the regulation for the construction of the Ensanche was put into effect, which led to the beginning of work on the new town, which was not seen as something isolated and separate from the rest, but as a continuation of the existing town, the M\u00e9dina, adapting to and blending in with the old urban fabric.<\/p>\n<p>Renowned architects such as Carlos Ovilo have worked on its conception, who have set their sights on unique, fully recognisable buildings, in an urban setting where different trends and styles come together: the Modern Movement, Francoist architecture, styles with regionalist influences - a fashionable trend in Andalusia at the time - passing through neo-Mozarabic or neo-Herreran elements, to name but a few.
