{"id":21242,"date":"2017-03-13T13:19:25","date_gmt":"2017-03-13T13:19:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tresculturas.org\/tresculturas\/?post_type=tribe_events&#038;p=21242"},"modified":"2017-03-13T13:19:25","modified_gmt":"2017-03-13T13:19:25","slug":"estructuras-familiares-al-andalus-nueva-sesion-la-catedra-al-andalus","status":"publish","type":"tribe_events","link":"https:\/\/tresculturas.org\/en\/actividad\/estructuras-familiares-al-andalus-nueva-sesion-la-catedra-al-andalus\/","title":{"rendered":"Family Structures in Al-Andalus', new session of the Al-Andalus Chair"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The February session of the Al-Andalus Chair will focus on the\u00a0<em>Family structures in Al-Andalus<\/em>The conference will be given by Cristina de la Puente, Research Scientist at the Department of Jewish and Islamic Studies of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).<\/p>\n<p>In his speech, on 23 February at 7.30 p.m., he will give an overview of the different family structures that coexisted during the long chronological period of the history of Al-Andalus.<\/p>\n<p>Nowadays, an increasing number of works are devoted to Andalusian social history, especially those focusing on the women of Al-Andalus; however, there are few studies whose main theme is the 'Muslim family' as a whole. Likewise, in works that approach the subject laterally, the family is usually conceived from a Western-Christian perspective in which attention is paid mainly to its fundamental nucleus (parents and children), ignoring the fact that the rich Arab sources, belonging to different genres (legal, historical, literary...) attest to the existence of very diverse family structures, to which other types of individuals belonged (domestic slaves, milk relatives, etc.), whose role in society was very relevant. For all these reasons, this new proposal from the C\u00e1tedra Al-Andalus is so attractive for lovers of this subject and the general public.<\/p>\n<p>To attend the conference you need to register in advance<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/forms\/pz99z0j8YlOlF3Vi1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong><u>at\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><strong>this link.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>About Cristina de la Puente<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>She is a researcher in Arabic and Islamic studies, with a PhD from the Complutense University since 1994. She has completed pre- and post-doctoral stays at the Orientalisches Seminar of the University of T\u00fcbingen (1992-96), after which she joined the Institute of Mediterranean Languages and Cultures of the CSIC, obtaining a position as a scientist in 1999. Between 2012 and 2014 she was Coordinator of the Humanities and Social Sciences Area of the CSIC and then assumed the Deputy Vice-Presidency for Internationalisation (2014-2015) and that of Scientific and Technical Areas. Since April 2016 she has been Vice-President for Scientific and Technical Research at the Spanish National Research Council.<\/p>\n<p>He has participated in and directed national and international research projects on Andalusian social history, Islamic law and religiosity. She was a member of a European Science Foundation project: 'Individual and Society in the Mediterranean Muslim World' (1996-2000) and has been a member of the Humanities Committee of Science Europe (2012-2015).
