The aim of the initiative is to publicise and vindicate the contribution of these figures to the history and culture of Spain and the rest of Europe and the Mediterranean and their contribution to the intellectual, cultural and scientific heritage of humanity.<\/p>\n<p>On this occasion the conference, under the title <strong>The sage Hasday Ibn Shaprut and his paradigmatic relationship with Muslims, Christians and Jews'.<\/strong>will be dedicated to Hasday Ibn Shaprut (Ja\u00e9n c. 915- 970 or 975), the first Jewish personality of outstanding relevance in the history of Al-Andalus.<\/p>\n<p>Hasday Ibn Shaprut, originally from Ja\u00e9n and based in C\u00f3rdoba, was a physician, linguist and diplomat in the service of the Umayyad Caliphate. He was an ambassador of 'Abd al-Rahman III, physician to al-Hakam II and translator of scientific works such as <em data-start=\"236\" data-end=\"255\">Medical<\/em>. He also promoted Jewish jurisprudence and history in his community.
