Mohammed VI of Morocco, and Javier Solana. Conclusions by Bernardino Le\u00f3n.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation and the Rafael Escuredo Chair present the conferences<i> <b>The Arab Spring in the Mediterranean: Times of change<\/b><\/i><b>,<\/b> which will take place at the headquarters of our Foundation on 11 and 12 February, with the collaboration of the Ministry of Moroccans Resident Abroad and Immigration Affairs, the International University of Andalusia (UNIA) and the Elcano Royal Institute.<\/p>\n<p>The allegedly revolutionary phenomena that have been set in motion in recent years in certain North African countries, such as Tunisia, Egypt, Libya and Syria, continue to be the subject of study due to their significance for peace and stability in the region. These are diverse and often traumatic processes that, although supported by Western governments and media, show the uncertainties inherent to any model of transition between different political regimes.<\/p>\n<p>The inaugural conference will be given by Mr. Andr\u00e9 Azoulay, advisor to H.M. Mohammed VI of Morocco and President Delegate of the Three Cultures Foundation. Other keynote speakers include Javier Solana, former High Representative of the Council for the Common Foreign and Security Policy of the European Union (1999-2009); Juan Cano, President of the Advisory Council of Andalusia; Emilio Casinello, Director General of the Toledo International Centre for Peace; Carmen Romero, Member of the European Parliament; the former Minister of Culture Carmen Calvo; and Bernardino Le\u00f3n, EU Special Envoy for the Southern Mediterranean.<\/p>\n<p>Their interventions and those of the other speakers will address issues such as the role of women in the Arab world, Arab-Israeli relations and their influence on the transition and democratisation processes in North Africa, and the cultural values and challenges of North African youth.<\/p>\n<p>The aim of the conference will be to analyse the evolution and results of the process of change undertaken. The aim will therefore be to make a diagnosis of the past and present political, cultural, economic, religious, etc., reality of the countries involved in the transformations, with particular reference to the identifying elements of the processes of interrelation and coexistence in this area.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>11 y 12 de febrero en Fundaci\u00f3n Tres Culturas.
