Conference 'Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba: a paradigm in danger'."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Lecture by Antonio Manuel Rodr\u00edguez Ramos.<br \/>\nThursday, 30 January, at 19.00.<br \/>\nFree admission with prior registration.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are three controversial questions about the Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba: ownership (public or private), management (public, private or shared) and use (civil, ecumenical or Catholic). No one questions its nature as a public domain, nor its universal significance. However, its declaration as a World Heritage Site is in serious danger as a result of the legal, economic and symbolic appropriation of the monument by the Catholic hierarchy, especially since its immatriculation in 2006. For this reason, in this session of the Al-Andalus Chair we will analyse in more detail the legal study on the public ownership of the Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba, as well as the nullity of its registration by the Catholic Church, due to the unconstitutionality of the rules on which it is based.<\/p>\n<p><b>Antonio Manuel Rodr\u00edguez Ramos<\/b><\/p>\n<p>He holds a Law Degree with Extraordinary Prize, a PhD in Law Cum Laude, lecturer in Civil Law at the University of Cordoba and in the legal module of the Expert Course in Islamic Culture and Civilisation of the Toledo Chair (Camilo Jos\u00e9 Cela-UNED University). He has been a guest lecturer at several international universities and is a member of the research group <i>Civil Law in the 21st Century<\/i>. Promoter of the Andalusian parliamentary initiative for the legal equality of the descendants of \"Moorish-Andalus\u00edes\" for the purposes of acquiring Spanish nationality, he is the author of the Declaration of Chauen and the Decalogue of Cordoba for the Dialogue of Civilisations.<\/p>\n<p>He is also a teaching member of the UNESCO Chair of International Conflict Resolution and director of the International Course <i>From Cordoba to Timbuktu: a journey from the Andalusian past to the Andalusian present<\/i>. He is programme coordinator of the UNESCO CLUB of Cordoba, with which he organised two international meetings with the Abdel-Malek Esaadi University of Tangiers-Tetouan. He has also promoted the candidacy of the descendants of \"Moorish-Andalus\u00edes\" for the Prince of Asturias Award for Concord, backed by more than 3,000 signatures of intellectuals from all countries, ideologies and confessions, as well as by the unanimous declaration of the Parliament of Andalusia. In 2009, he revealed the immatriculation of the Mosque-Cathedral by the Catholic hierarchy and, since then, he has publicly defended its nullity.<\/p>\n<p>Free entrance until full capacity is reached.
