Antonio de Diego, from Revista de Libros, thus describes the work and the author.

"Emilio González Ferrín continues to defy "academic officialdom". He already did so in 2006, when he published in this same publishing house General History of Al-Andalus. In it he questioned what we had been taught years ago as dogma: the "Muslims" never invaded and conquered Spain, simply because they did not exist as such at that time. For the author, neither the Koran nor the Islamic tradition were codified in 711 and the Arabic language was still a century away from being a lingua franca.

It is necessary to point this out, because Abraham's anguish is the continuation of this work. González Ferrín proposes a prequel by revisiting, once again, classical views on Islam, Muslims and most of the foundations of our Mediterranean world. For the cultural origins of Islam - the book's subtitle - lie in late antiquity. The author takes up the proposals of classical heterodoxes (often unknown to the Spanish reader), such as John Wansbrough, Daniel Boyarin (whose magnificent book Border Spaces has been translated into Spanish this year), Suliman Bashear, or younger authors, such as Carlos A. Segovia, to question everything we thought we knew".

Miércoles 11 de diciembre 2013 Hora: 19:00 h Presenta: Juan Manuel Cortés Copete, Universidad Pablo de Olavide Emilio González Ferrín presenta en Fundación Tres Culturas su libro La angustia de Abraham, […]

["post-23974","tribe_events","type-tribe_events","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","tipologia-presentacion-de-libro

Presentación del libro de Emilio González Ferrín 'La angustia de Abraham'
