At Istanbul (walks, glances, glimpses, glimpses)<\/i>the author offers us a personal stroll through the capricious city of the two continents. Travel literature, if it exists today, only makes sense to describe not the landscape that is seen, but the landscape that the traveller interprets. Walk after walk, historical episodes, chronicles of famous travellers, current novels inspired by the city (especially those of the Turkish Nobel prize-winner Orhan Pamuk), filming locations of the New Turkish Cinema, etc. are referred to.
