{"id":45728,"date":"2018-11-15T13:58:33","date_gmt":"2018-11-15T13:58:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tresculturas.org\/?post_type=tribe_events&#038;p=45728"},"modified":"2018-11-15T13:58:33","modified_gmt":"2018-11-15T13:58:33","slug":"el-regreso-del-escritor-marroqui-mas-internacional","status":"publish","type":"tribe_events","link":"https:\/\/tresculturas.org\/en\/actividad\/el-regreso-del-escritor-marroqui-mas-internacional\/","title":{"rendered":"The return of Morocco's most international writer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Three Cultures Foundation and the French Institute in Seville, in collaboration with the Cabaret Voltaire publishing house and the Jos\u00e9 Manuel Lara Foundation, are organising the presentation of\u00a0<em>The punishment<\/em> from <strong>Tahar Ben Jelloun<\/strong>, one of the most internationally acclaimed Moroccan writers and a member of the Acad\u00e9mie Goncourt.<\/p>\n<p>Narrator and journalist, regular contributor to various media, poet, committed intellectual and essayist, he has received numerous awards, including the Prix Goncourt in 1987 for <em>The sacred night <\/em>and the Erich Maria Remarque Peace Prize for the commitment of his work to tolerance.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tresculturas.org\/f3c\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/cubierta_el_castigo_alta-1600x1200-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-45740 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/tresculturas.org\/f3c\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/cubierta_el_castigo_alta-1600x1200-1-679x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"299\" height=\"451\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>At<em> The punishment, <\/em>autobiographical account<em>,<\/em> Ben Jelloun recounts the ordeal of nineteen months' detention suffered by ninety-four students for having demonstrated peacefully through the streets of Morocco's main cities in March 1965. Tahar Ben Jelloun will be in conversation with <strong>Lorenzo Silva<\/strong> about what those long months of confinement were like, which forever shaped his twenties, nourished his conscience and secretly made him a writer. The breathtaking prose of <em>The punishment<\/em> it prompts us to reflect on the fragility of liberty.
