Based in Beirut, he has been an eyewitness to the turmoil in the troubled region. He has lived through its wars and met its leaders, all of which he has chronicled in more than 8,000 articles for his newspaper. He has been awarded the Encomienda de Isabel la Cat\u00f3lica and the Creu de Sant Jordi, and has won the God\u00f3, Gaziel, Ortega y Gasset, V\u00e1zquez Montalb\u00e1n and Cirilo Rodr\u00edguez journalism prizes. He is the author of numerous books, such as\u00a0<em>The Dean. From Beirut to Baghdad: 30 Years of Chronicles<\/em>,\u00a0<em>The story from my balcony\u00a0<\/em>o<em>\u00a0Why Damascus?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a
