His actions (and those of his descendants) in the mountains of Malaga between 880 and 927 raised the possibility of having created a kind of state or d<em>awla<\/em> as opposed to the legitimate Umayyad of C\u00f3rdoba.<\/p>\n<p>From the seat of Bobastro, created to ensure the functioning of a dynasty, he developed a frenetic political career based on the search for a legitimacy he lacked.
