Canciones de tu memoria negra' (Spain, 2016, 72 minutes), an award-winning documentary that talks about a shameful chapter in our history: the buying and selling of slaves in the Iberian Peninsula from the 16th century until well into the 19th century in the ports of Seville, Cadiz and Lisbon.

The immense African wealth was integrated in the configuration of the collective memory and in all our artistic manifestations, especially in music. This documentary delves into the history of two antagonistic worlds, the Spanish and the African, at the time of colonisation. A period that has been hidden but is still very present in the culture, and above all in the rhythms and rhythms of this multicultural south.

The director, Miguel Ángel Rosales, presents his first feature film as follows: "In the south of Europe, where today borders are shielded with razor wire and walls, yesterday a business flourished that forcibly dragged thousands of Africans into exile and exploitation. Gurumbé. Canciones de tu memoria negra' tells their story to question the present and remind us that Africa is very much part of who we are today".

Rosales has a degree in Anthropology and is a forestry engineer. He studied music at the Conservatory of Granada and film at the International Film and Television School of Cuba (EICTV). To date, he has made several short and medium-length films: 'Gurumbé.
