In 1947, the famous Egyptian writer Shauqi Dayf published the first critical edition of the most famous grammatical text in the history of Arabic: the work of the Cordovan settled in Seville Madda Ibn al-Qurtubi (1119-1196). Few Western researchers have turned their attention to this author, a lack of attention especially eloquent in Spain. The Italian researcher Marta Campanelli has spent years studying this Andalusian scholar who revolutionized the rules of Arabic and who defied tradition dense busy deify the Word of God, according to the Koran.

Marta Campanelli

Marta Campanelli is an arabist and a Ph. D. candidate at La Sapienza University of Rome. She got a master degree in Arabic Language and Civilization (2009-La Sapienza University of Rome) and a postgraduate degree in Interpreting Arabic-Italian-Arabic (Scuola Superiore per Mediatori Linguistici di Vicenza). Her main fields of interest are Arabic Language and Linguistics, Arabic Medieval Literature and Translation. She is currently conducting a reaserch on the Andalusian grammarian Ibn Maḍā’ al-Qurṭubī and his refutation of the grammarians. She collaborates with the University for Foreigners of Siena as Subject Expert and consecutive interpreter (Arabic-Italian). She is also a member of Roma Tre University’s Research group.
