Many movies stand out in the Three Cultures Foundation’s 10 year-old history of programming Middle Eastern and Mediterranean films on a weekly basis. Some of these films have been made available to audiences only through our Cinema on Tuesday series, including some which were shown in Spain for the first time.
Unfortunately, only few samples of the region’s vibrant film scene manage to reach commercial channels. In rare occasions are films from countries such as Turkey, Egypt, Israel or Iran available in theatres, and those which reach the big screen remain there barely for a week.
This lies behind our rationale for programming a series of movies which deserve a second chance in the big screen due to their impact and relevance both in theatres and in terms of recognition at festivals. Films you might have missed at the cinema but can enjoy again at the Three Cultures Foundation.
