Within the framework of the Alcántara programme, the Fundación Tres Culturas (Three Cultures Foundation) is organising this concert by the renowned composer, singer and guitarist Med Jbara, whose refreshing compositions are a fusion of rai, gnawa, andalusí and reggae music.
A magnet of cultural diversity, in his home country this Moroccan artist is considered to be a pioneer in contemporary music, which he believes to be like a sentiment of the soul and the language of the people.
Ethnic Moroccan music is a part of his cultural heritage, yet his creativity knows no limits. An explosive mixture of gnawa-rock that reaches all sorts of publics, with powerful guitar solos worthy of the best fusion of heavy, rock and jazz and magnificently combined with the percussion, the hajouj bass and the gnawa rhythms.
