The Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation takes part in the International Congress on Mysticism in the Maghreb and Gharb al-Andalus, organised by the Al Idrisi Foundation for historical, archaeological and architectural research and held on 5-9 October.
As part of the awareness-raising activities in the Alqantara programme (under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Responsible for Moroccans Resident Abroad and Migration Issues), the Three Cultures Foundation has helped organise this congress, which will be held in Seville and in Aljezur, Portugal, as a continuation of the encounter held in Morocco last March.
This time homage will be paid to the researchers Rafael Manzano, Fernando Fernández and José María Cabeza for their important work in the area of Andalusí heritage and Maghrebi culture. During the various sessions, experts in fields such as archaeology, Andalusí architecture or history will cover subjects ranging from current mystical expressions in the Alcázar of Seville or the mystical experience of St Teresa.
Besides the different panels envisaged, the congress participants will also be offered guided tours of several of the city’s heritage sites as well as the headquarters of the Three Cultures Foundation, the Hassan II Pavilion, a magnificent example of contemporary Moroccan architecture embellished with the many traditional decorative techniques that characterize its unmistakeable style.
The congress’s official opening takes place on Thursday the 5th of October in the Ateneo of Seville at 10:30 a.m.
