Tuesday Cinema. Cycle of Mediterranean women directors. Session of short films by Andalusian women directors.

Details

  • Date: 28 March 2023
  • Time:
    20:30 - 22:00

Mediterranean cinema deals with many different themes, including the different social, political and cultural situations on both sides of the Mediterranean. In March, as usual, the Fundación Tres Culturas gives the floor to women who, through the camera, show their concerns and the issues that interest them from their own vision as contemporary women.

In this way, the Foundation, through its cycle Martes de Cien, aims to be a meeting place for the cinematography of both shores and a vindication of the visibility of women filmmakers and their creations.

The cycle features the screening of four recent, successful films directed by women who use their own spaces, voices and styles to tell their stories, highlighting Mediterranean diversity through their gazes.

Tuesday, 28 March, 20.30h

Short film session of the Andalusian Association of Women in Audiovisual Media (AAMMA)

JOSELITO

Marta Jiménez Revuelta and José Carlos, Spain, 2021, 9 minutes.

In a small village, there is an old electronics genius who can fix anything. The villagers know him as Joselito, and through his wife they entrust him with everything that breaks down. Every day, Joselito's wife goes around the village with her shopping trolley collecting broken appliances. Every day, Joselito's wife has to face the fact that her neighbours assume her to be fragile, disorientated and, of course, useless.

THE CASHIER

Amada Santos, Spain, 2022, 15 minutes.

This story begins after Maca is assaulted at her workplace. The character played by Olga Navalón decides to investigate this event and chooses to locate other women who have been assaulted in order to seek justice. In this way, we find ourselves before a script that seeks to give visibility to a huge problem in society that affects many women on a daily basis.

THE EAST WIND

Lucía Aragón, Spain, 2022, 14 minutes.

Bárbara is with her friends celebrating her visit to Seville, where she studied. Talking to one of them, she tells her about her intentions in the small town where she now lives: to carry out research on the huts of Chiclana de la Frontera. The project and the return to his parents' house make him reflect on his family, his concerns and how to cope with an uncertain future.

PORT

Remedios Malvárez, Spain, 2022, 22 minutes.

An exercise in creative freedom aimed at generating sensations, showing places that are far removed from the usual gaze, with a discourse that is more emotional than narrative, in which the aesthetic value of the image and sound space make up this story of the Port of Huelva.

MOTHERTRUCKERS

Paula Romero, Spain, 2022, 9 minutes.

A short documentary film that takes a different look at the under-represented history of women truck drivers. Set after Brexit and in the wake of the transport and fuel crisis in the UK, it addresses the conflict of being a woman in a male-dominated profession.

THE ANGELS OF SAINT LAZARUS

Marta Serrano, Spain. 2022, 7 minutes.

There are many testimonies of terminally ill people who claim to have learned the most in their lives from knowing that they were going to die. These people are likely to develop a deeper compassion for others and experience a greater appreciation of the life they have left.
