The Fundación Tres Culturas presents a series of documentaries on great Andalusian figures who have left a legacy worth remembering.
With this cycle we aim to highlight the life and work of some of the Andalusian intellectuals, to support the production companies that are committed to disseminating this legacy and at the same time to recognise the great work of Canal Sur Radio and Canal Sur Television in their commitment to the dissemination of documentary films, their support for the Andalusian audiovisual industry and their contribution to its development in Andalusia.

Carmen de Burgos. The silenced voice. Pedro Callejas Medina. Spain, 2017, 65 min.
The life and work of an avant-garde woman, defender of women's rights in Spain. Journalist, teacher, writer, translator and Spanish women's rights activist, known by the pseudonym "Colombine", she was born in Almería in 1867, studied to be a teacher and at the age of 33 left her husband and moved to Madrid with her daughter to start a new life, pursuing her literary vocation. A defender of women's and children's rights, especially in relation to divorce and women's suffrage, she also fought for freedom in that backward and poor Spain, dominated by a crude, ecclesiastical conservatism, expressing her opposition to the death penalty. She was the first woman editor of a newspaper in Spain and the first war correspondent as well. She wrote short stories, biographies, travel and feminist books.
We will be joined by its director, Pedro Callejas, to talk about the documentary and its protagonist.
