On the occasion of Women's Day, celebrated on 8 March, the Fundación Tres Culturas is offering a concert by Hind Ennaira, a renowned female performer of gnaoua, a traditional Moroccan genre performed almost exclusively by men for centuries.

Only 26 years old and self-taught, Hind Ennaira is a "gnaouie" (from the gnaoua genre) and one of the very few female guembri performers. Today, Hind is working to raise awareness of the female gnaoua, performing music made exclusively by men for centuries and demonstrating to the world the true power of Maghrebi women.

Born in Essaouira, the birthplace of gnaoua, she has always been immersed in music, and it was in this city that she performed for the first time, on the Moulay El Hassan stage of the Gnaoua and World Music Festival. During her impressive guembri solo with Maâlem Mohamed Boumezzough and Yaya Ouattara, the audience was able to discover the new female face of this genre.

She founded her own band and has since performed in Morocco and abroad, dominating the gnawa music scene. Playing her instrument, the guembri, she shows the world that this traditional Moroccan folklore is also for women. Hind is known as one of the "maâlems" who fill auditoriums with her performances. She is an expert both in traditional gnawa and in fusions with jazz, Andalusian, East African and many other genres.
